A very special relationship: Wirthwein and railway. The railway was the first customer of Wirthwein. In 1949, company founder Walter Wirthwein started producing lathed wooden parts. More than 3,000 additional products for railway superstructures have followed since then.
Today we are looking back at almost 50 years of experience in plastic injection molding with an annual production volume of hundreds of millions of parts. To date, Wirthwein has supplied products for more than 15,000 km high-speed railway lines worldwide – for train speeds of up to 450 km/h.
Among our customers are, important suppliers of rail fastening systems, the Deutsche Bahn AG, state railroads within and across European borders, industrial and private railways, public metropolitan and suburban commuter railway companies, industrial companies, track construction companies, concrete sleeper producers and mining companies.
We deliver high-quality plastic components which are completed into one unit by system providers. Our components are used in the first installment of railway tracks, track reconstruction and -maintenance.
The manifold demands in railway superstructures are covered by the extensive product range of Wirthwein:
In local- as well as long-distance traffic, Wirthwein offers a wide product range for wooden-, concrete- and steel sleepers, which mostly allows choosing the most ideal product. Alternatively, we use our decades of experience on new developments. It is not without reason that we are the acknowledged global market leader in the production of plastic components for railway superstructures.
